THE MISSION....
Genuine Outcomes "out of home care" project is driven by just one desire.......
to enable young people to be awesome!
Our gathered knowledge and direct experience places us in a position to tackle areas in “out of home” care that we believe can help bridge the gap between, kids in care, and those in family settings.
With a programmed range of activities, sports and facllitating cultural connections, our focus will be on delivering daily structure.
This will be our point of difference.
Secure Base model of care (Schofield G, 2014), relies on five dimensions to ensure children in OOHC, and family based care, have their needs met holistically by those with whom they form an attachment. With the core notion of Secure Base originating out of Attachment Theory itself, having an understanding of such can be beneficial when looking at this particular model in a caregiving setting.
The five dimensions of care that Secure Base is built around are; Availability, sensitivity, acceptance, cooperation, and family membership, and can apply not only to the way we care for young people in the abovementioned space(s), but also how teams of carers are managed too. Applying the model across a company, means that therapeutic practices are firmly embedded into all aspects of service delivery, most importantly, to best support the young people whom we have a duty of care to live their best lives.
The caregiving cycle is primarily needs based, focussing on the behaviour of the child. The overall outcome aimed at a young person adjusting their thinking and feeling to be positive, to feel secure, and to trust those around them with whom they have an attachment. It is important that children and young people are confident in carers’ cues and responses, after all, they are looking to the key adults in their lives to keep them safe, to assist them to feel accepted, and to nurture their emotional and social well-being in order to grow.
